Join us to enjoy this epicurean experience. You will enjoy a four-course gourmet evening meal prepared and served by the top students in the SBCC Culinary Arts Department. Each dinner course is expertly paired with wine.

NOTE:

The seating is VERY limited. We have been fortunate to get reservations for 3 tables of four. One table seats at 5:30. The other two seat at 5:45.

We will send table assignment several days before the event. We will TRY to seat you with your preferred companion, but cannot guarantee it.

The cost is $65 which includes tax and tip.

An invitation beyond the music. This Spring we invite you to something entirely new. Instead of a concert, join us for an exclusive reception and private tour of a remarkable space not yet open to the public. Music Academy of the West’s "Music Education Center" is poised to become the vibrant home for music in downtown Santa Barbara.

Step inside before the transformation begins. Experience the vision through architectural renderings, hear the story behind the design, and imagine the performances that will one day fill the hall. There'll be drinks and light appetizers, but as always, the gathering will be as much about connection as it is about music—good company, conversation, and the shared view of what’s to come.

Hosted by your friends at Casa Musica.

NB: As this is a pre-renovation site, the building has been unoccupied for several years and remains in its original condition. There is currently no HVAC or ADA accessibility. Restrooms are not available, though public restrooms are across the street.

How About Brunch?

This new restaurant in San Roque is hardly a "Coffee and Kitchen".

Their breakfasts offer paninis, sandwiches, toasts, burritos, and lasts until 2PM. Lunch starts at 11 and includes salads, bowls, sandwiches, focaccia, and soups.

We're looking forward to welcoming this family-run new eatery to Santa Barbara.

We have a reservation for 10 people and can increase this if more of you are interested.

SBSC Happy Hour at La Lieff

Come join our Santa Barbara Social Club in the Funk Zone at the fun La Lieff Winery for a night with special pricing, food options from nearly restaurants, lots of room to socialize. and, maybe the sunset!

That night only, they are offering wine flight tastings (usual costs $25-35) for $15. They have a famous rose wine tasting, along with other Rhone varietals. All glasses of wine are $3 off the regular menu.

La Lieff welcomes dogs, and, especially customers can bring in take-out food (or their own) from nearby Shahoobs, Lucky Penny, The Nook, Mony's, etc.

It provides a very relaxed, laid-back vibe, indoor-outdoor seating, and very good service.

This is a woman-owned winery and, if you come back on a weekend, they usually have live music. Please join us for a lovely evening in the heart of the funk zone at La Lieff winery!

Limited to 20 people (but, if numbers go beyond this, they are open to more people)

Please sign up ASAP, so that they have time to hire the correct amount of staff to take good care of us.

The winery will also be open to the public, so, the sooner we know our numbers, the better the experience will be for us.

“The Shocking History of Electricity in Santa Barbara”

Have you ever wondered what Santa Barbara was like before electricity came to our city? Imagine how dramatic the change was when about a dozen street corners went from ﬂickering gas lamps to electriﬁed streetlights overnight and when this modern miracle entered businesses and then residences!

Today just may be the ﬁrst time that many of you will be hearing about how forward-thinking civic leaders like Charles Fernald and Walter Hawley forever changed Santa Barbara one foggy night in 1887. Find out about the ﬁrst electric power plants – where they were located and how they produced electrical magic; and which street corners ﬁrst turned night into day. From the beginning, there were complaints about lousy service and high prices; hear about a rogue method used to address those situations. And, learn why the beautiful Los Baños Del Mar complex – complete with heated swimming pools and a “Pleasure Pier” – was built next to the 1901 power plant; and how the complex was built at an unheard-of speed, by today’s standards, at a time when communication methods were limited, and essential materials had to arrive by ship.

About our Speaker: A New Yorker for most of his life, Joe DeLise instantly fell in love with Santa Barbara when he moved here in 2021. He spends much of his spare time learning the history of the area and “colorizing” old photos of the Mission, which you may have seen on the local website EDHAT. He also enjoys photography, cooking, and playing & teaching backgammon. In his former life, Joe was on the packaging & purchasing side of the cosmetics business, where he had the opportunity to travel internationally for companies such as L’Oréal and Unilever.

Menchaca Chocolate Workshop

& Tasting Experience

Explore a family-owned, small batch, chocolate factory located half way underground in the corner of El Mercado shopping center on North State where you will create your own Chocolate Bars and paint a wooden box in which to put them!

First you'll pour your choice of Dark, Milk and White chocolate into the bar molds. Then you'll top your chocolate from a choice of 25 inclusions (nuts, dried fruit, peppermint, marsh mellows, goji berries, seasonings etc.)

While the Chocolate is setting up you can paint, stain, stamp, stencil and washi tape your box using all the Art supplies in our ART BAR located out side in the Paseo.

These chocolate boxes are always a great Mother's Day or birthday gift for someone you love-- including yourself!

Join us on Thursday June 4th from 11am-1pm.

The project will cost is $54 per person to create

two 6" bars and a keepsake box.

We will need at least 10 participants to qualify for that pricing, but we can likely add extra people so definitely put your name on the waitlist if the event is full when you sign up!

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON MAY 20th!

*Afterwards, we may decide to have lunch at the La Palapa restaurant which is right next door. If so, each person would pay their share of whatever they order.

BEANS & INGREDIENTS

Certified Direct Trade beans from Cahabon, Guatemala, & Costa Esmeraldas, Ecuador.

For our dark chocolate lovers, premium ingredients are used which include organic cane sugar, naturally deodorized cacao butter, and a pinch of non-GMO Sunflower Lecithin.

To keep our chocolate vegan-friendly (and create a rich creaminess), we add oat milk powder to our milk, white, and strawberry flavors.

Crafting fine chocolate means we can experiment with each bean's origin, adjusting roasting profiles and showcasing regional farms in our small batches. We don't use any bulk fillers, stabilizers, or preservatives. The process involves roasting, cracking, winnowing, followed by blending, tempering, and molding the liquid chocolate.

Our passion extends to our packaging, featuring original artwork on labels and hand-painted boxes. Handmade is a rarity these days, but it's what drives our passion, and we hope you can taste it in every bite.

We will socialize while tasting 8 different wines, 4 white including an opening champagne and 4 reds. As well as enjoying each other's company we hope individually and collectively to find some really great wines at an affordable price. Join us for the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Santa Barbara: great food, great wine, and great people, enjoyed in the great outdoors. If the weather is chilly we’ll go inside and onto a heated deck.

Ooley is an engaging resource for exploring the city’s architectural and cultural treasures. With his thoughtful insights on neighborhoods, historic landmarks, and notable architects, he offers a captivating journey through Santa Barbara’s rich heritage and hidden gems.

For 30 years, Robert Ooley served as the Santa Barbara County Architect. He is the former president of the local chapter of the Architectural Institute of America, and currently serves on the Historic Landmarks Commission and on the boards of several preservation-oriented nonprofits, including the Pearl Chase Society.

Join us for a very special evening with this talented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic resident of Santa Barbara since 1977.

Help us catch a murderer at the Luau!

Santa Barbara is a small town outside of Hollywood that is a celebrity vacation destination with beautiful beaches, excellent weather and wonderful resorts. A local magician is hosting a to-die-for backyard luau party. Everybody in Santa Barbara is talking about what an epic party this will be. Rumors have flown around the grapevine that the guest list might not contain only the crème de la crème of high society, but why should anybody question the host's motives? He has said that it will be a fun time in the sun with exciting party games, wonderful luau-inspired delicacies, and stimulating conversation. You have received your invitation, and it is time to pick out your most festive luau attire for the party. This is where the story begins...

So put on your best Hawaiian attire and join us for this festive killer event! We'll have lots of tropical food and drinks, music, and prizes.
