Curious Minds Presents:

Critical Race Theory Explained

What is Critical Race Theory and why are people so upset about it?

(Note: masks are still required indoors in Santa Barbara County) Political campaigns and parent-teacher interactions are aflame with emotional debates on Critical Race Theory's pros and cons. Why do some feel so threatened by it? Do they really understand what it is?  UCSB professor John S.W. Park will take us past the hype and emotional rhetoric, by explaining CRT's origins, and how it came to have so much influence on public debates

Afterwards he will take questions from the audience.

Professor John S.W. Park completed his doctorate in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at Boalt Hall, the School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley. He has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and he graduated summa from Berkeley with a degree in Rhetoric.

He writes and teaches on topics in race theory, immigration law and policy, and Anglo-American legal and political theory at UCSB.

Due to Covid regulations SBSC requires all guests to be fully vaccinated and bring proof of vaccination with a QR code on their phones. Also, at indoor settings Santa Barbara County Guidelines require that all guess wear a mask. Please use this link https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov.  If necessary, the card showing your vaccination dates will do. Upon entering the library, to your right will be the vaccination check-in.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing you.   Santa Barbara Social Club
