Easy & Safe Pickleball at Oak Park

Enjoy an easy-going game of Pickleball with a small group of fellow club members in a safe outdoor setting.  Have fun while getting some outdoor aerobic exercise.  It is FREE drop-in use.  All skill levels are welcome.  Extra paddles can be provided.

There are two tennis courts located at the end of Oak Park on Tallant Road near Alamar.   We need 2 to register to play with Kristi Anderson and Mary Kaljian).  If we have more, we will rotate in.  Nets are not supplied.  Kristi and Mary have one net.  If you happen to have another net, please let Kristi know at  theamericanfrog@gmail.com.

Out to Lunch at RH Firehouse Grill

The RH store/restaurant in located in the beautiful historic building constructed in 1931 and served as the Montecito Firehouse for half a century.  We have arranged for 2 tables of 6 in the beautifully landscaped garden w/heritage olive trees, birds of paradise, grand fireplace and limestone fountains.  Lunch favorites: grilled shrimp and vegetable salad, lobster roll, crispy artichokes and more.  They will only take one credit card per table so please bring cash.  There is also complimentary parking.  Just pull into the driveway next to the entrance.

Brass Bear Brewing and Bistro

Join SBSC member, Bill Kyle, and your SBSC friends at the Brass Bear, a downtown hidden gem.

The Brass Bear brews its own beer but there is wine and food, too!!  Eight beers on tap including NA. No Happy Hour pricing but there is plenty to choose from. There is expansive space outside and more room inside. The GM/Chef will be there, so you can meet Jonathan.Mellor.

This is a very nice evening setting in town. The Brass Bear is definitely worth knowing!

 Walk  and Wine:  Argonne Circle Area of East San Roque

In 1917 businessman Steven Rutherford purchased a bean and walnut operation located betwwen  San Roque and Alamar Avenue, then known as the Ontare Ranch.  Believing  that the increasing popularity of the automobile would make this more profitable as as a developing neighborhood than a farm, he laid out a grid for what he called the Rutherford Park Subdivision. The layout showed streets radiating out from a circle, which he named Argonne Circle in honor of his son Lawrie, who was killed in the Argonne Forest in World War I. Rutherford's own home still stands in the area, along with many upper middle class homes built throughout the mid 20th century, when Rutherford park inluenced the development of the San Roque area.

We will explore the highlights of this unique area.

Join us to enjoy this epicurean experience.  You will enjoy a four-course gourmet evening meal prepared and served by the top students in the SBCC Culinary Arts Department.  Each dinner course is expertly paired with wine.  The seating is very limited and we have been fortunate to get reservations at staggered times.

The cost is $65 which includes tax and tip.

Out to Lunch at Ellwood Restaurant

The Ellwood (on Goleta Beach by the pier!) has finally opened and Ellen Rauch has secured us a reservation for Thursday, May 22 at 12:30 for 12 lucky people!

The restaurant features Italian, Asian and California dishes including specialties like hamachi crudo, salmon poke, and pad Thai as well as calamari parmesan, short rib pappardelle, and lemon herb broccolini. It's not the bargain the Beachside used to be, but it is cuisine of a higher quality. Chef Craig Riker says “We want to do food that you would expect at the beach but to do it with our own little twists.”

The restaurant won't give us individual checks, but will take 3 credit cards per table. Everyone should probably just plan to bring cash!

 Happy Hour at Shalhoob’s Magnolia

Join SBSC members, Carrie Mullen, Mindy Fogg, and your SBSC friends at the Shalhoob's Magnolia.

Shalhoob’s Magnolia is the latest creation and evolution of Shalhoob’s, launched in 1973 in Santa Barbara as Shalhoob Meat Company and butcher shop.

The menu features all of their classics: tri-tip, Shalhoob nachos and BBQ ribs—and their falafel is terrific!  Beer (including rotating tap specials), wine, cocktails and fun non-alcoholic options available.  

Since happy hour specials are from 3-5p, don’t arrive late!!  Margaritas, house wine, and house beers are $6-7.  Food specials include falafel and pulled pork sandwiches, quesadilla and loaded tots!

This is a great evening setting in town.  Shalhoob's Magnolia is definitely worth knowing!   And there is loads of easy parking!

A Tribute to the Bee Gees

Bee Gees Fever is set to take the stage at The Lobero Theatre on May 30th, 2025, at 7:30 PM. This tribute show pays homage to the iconic Bee Gees, renowned for their rich harmonies and chart-topping hits from the disco era. Fans can expect a lively performance that includes classics like "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love," and many others, transporting the audience back to the unforgettable sounds of the 70s and beyond.

Santa Barbara Social Club has secured discounted tickets for our members.   They are great seats – rows 10 and 11 (J&K) directly off of the center aisle in the orchestra section.

Expect a thrilling night filled with the infectious energy of the Bee Gees Fever tribute band. The performers are dedicated to recreating the original sound and spirit of the Bee Gees, making it a memorable night for fans of all ages. With engaging performances and heartfelt renditions of timeless hits, audiences will undoubtedly be singing along from start to finish.

Limited street parking is available near the theatre. It's advisable to arrive early to secure convenient parking. Additionally, there are public parking lots within a short walking distance from The Lobero Theatre (33 E. Canon Perdido)

This special event at a Private Home with both Ocean and Mountain views will be a treat for the eyes and the palate as well!

Join us for an afternoon of tasting a variety of California wines from off the beaten path accompanied by delicious hors d'oeuvres. We will socialize while tasting up to 9 different wines with friendly discussions of the sampled wines. Join us for the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Santa Barbara: great food, great wine, and great people enjoyed in the great outdoors. If the weather is chilly we’ll go inside and onto a heated deck. 

You are encouraged to carpool as parking is somewhat limited.

Botanic Garden Walk & Picnic

Enjoy strolling through the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden with fellow SB Social Club Members.  What could be better than eating outside among nature's bountiful treasures.  Bring your own lunch as we find a lovely area to sit, eat and socialize with each other.  

Meet promptly at the Botanic Garden entrance at 10:30.

Please let us know if your plans change and you can't make it so that we do not wait for you at the entrance.

 
 Afterwards you are welcome to continue to explore the Garden as long as you would like.
